Much to the dismay of its avid listeners around the world, the wildly popular podcast Serial released the final episode of its first season on Thursday.
Over the course of 12 episodes, Sarah Koenig and her team examined the 1999 murder of Baltimore high school student Hae Min Lee and the state's case against Adnan Syed, Lee's ex-boyfriend who is currently serving a life sentence for the murder. They picked through the details and exposed a story to a massive audience like no podcast has before
As listeners, we mulled over the facts, speculated about the lies and deliberated the many theories along with Koenig. And as much as we would have liked Serial to deliver a complete final episode that pointed the finger at Adnan, Jay, Don or somebody else for Hae's murder, it's important to remember that Serial is not a drama — it's real life.
