Marijuana strains sold in the 20 states where it’s legal are not well tested, and some are even beset with E. coli, mold and pesticides. As more states legalize marijuana, customer demand for organic, chemical-free weed is bound to take root.

Square Now Accepts Bitcoin for Its Online Marketplace

Bitcoin enthusiasts now have a new place to shop

Square announced on Monday that it has begun accepting the cryptocurrency as a form of payment on its online marketplace

Shoppers can opt to "Pay with Bitcoin," which generates a bitcoin address attached to the order. Merchants, according to Square, are effectively insulated from the process and don't have to assume any risk from the ever-changing price of bitcoins.

"The seller receives the amount of the purchased goods or services in USD and in the amount of USD advertised to the sellers' customer at the time of transaction," Ajit Varma, Square Market lead, wrote in a blog post. "So the seller takes no risk on Bitcoin value fluctuations." Read more...

Expanded Replay Used for First Time in MLB Game

Major League Baseball's expanded replay system was put to the test early on Opening Day.

Chicago Cubs manager Rick Renteria unsuccessfully challenged a call during the fifth inning of a game against the Pittsburgh Pirates at Wrigley Field on Monday, marking the first time expanded replay was used during an official MLB game

The new system, which was approved in January, was tested during spring training, but Monday's call at Wrigley was the first time a challenge was offered during a real game

Jelly Now Lets You Ask Questions About Specific Locations

Jelly, the question-and-answer-based social network created by Twitter cofounder Biz Stone, got its first major update Monday.

The app now lets users ask questions tied to specific locations and pushes those questions to nearby users. To specify a location, just drop a pin on a map. Previously, questions could be either just text or a combination of text and photos.

"You can ask with your camera, you can ask with a decidedly familiar blank white space, and now, you can ask using an interactive map of the world," said Stone in a blog post detailing the update. "We’ve designed a better way to ask questions — simple, visual, and interactive. We’ve learned so much just by paying attention to how people use the service." Read more...

NSA Tracks All Emails, Texts, Phone Calls in Iraq

In Iraq, the NSA is able to sweep up all emails, text messages and phone location signals in real time. This revelation doesn't come from documents leaked by Edward Snowden, but from the spy agency's own former second-in-command

Former NSA deputy director John Inglis revealed these capabilities in an interview with the Los Angeles Times . Before outgoing NSA Director Gen. Keith Alexander arrived, Inglis said, the agency was only able to intercept "half of enemy signals" in Iraq

This seems to be the first time such capabilities have ever been revealed, even though the Washington Post reported in July that Alexander had major aspirations for Iraq in 2005. The newspaper wrote that Alexander "wanted everything: Every Iraqi text message, phone call and e-mail that could be vacuumed up by the agency’s powerful computers." Read more...

Pharrell Williams to Replace CeeLo Green on 'The Voice' Season 7

NBC's The Voice just turned its big red chair around for Pharrell Williams, picking the Grammy-winning musician as the new coach for the singing competition.

Pharrell, whose "Happy" single recently vied for Best Original Song at the Academy Awards, will join the cast in season seven, taking over for CeeLo Green. There's no word on whether the eye-catching hat Pharrell famously wore to the Grammys (pictured, above) will make a cameo.
