France deploys troops after attackers plow into holiday crowds

France will deploy its troops in public areas across the country over Christmas, Prime Minister Manuel Valls announced, after three attacks in three days raised the specter of terrorism.



"What we are seeing with events in Dijon and Nantes is that they are creating copy-cat reactions," Valls said of the attacks after order 200 to 300 soldiers to patrol popular areas like Paris's Champs-Elysees avenue, Reuters reports.


They'll join nearly 800 soldiers already on patrol.


France has been on edge following the three attacks in as many days, including two nearly identical rampages by drivers who plowed into holiday crowds. Read more...
