LONDON — Young Fathers have won the 2014 Mercury Music Prize at a ceremony at the Roundhouse in London with their album Dead.
They beat off competition from 11 other shortlisted acts to scoop the £20,000 (about $32,000) prize.
This year's shortlist was a typically mixed bunch, covering a range of genres. Guitar bands were present in the form of Bombay Bicycle Club and Royal Blood, FKA Twigs represented R&B pop, and GoGo Penguin covered off the token jazz slot.
Damon Albarn, Anna Calvi, East India Youth, Polar Bear, Nick Mulvey, Jungle and Kate Tempest completed the line-up. Read more...
