The Antares rocket's Russian manufacturer deflects blame for explosion

Two years before the Antares rocket exploded on its way to space, Elon Musk called its outdated Russian engines "the punchline to a joke."


While most didn't blame Kuznetsov, the Russian company that made the engines for the Antares, for the explosion, the manufacturer felt it necessary to wag its finger at the United States. The Antares, a private, unmanned rocket owned by Orbital Sciences, exploded shortly after taking off at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia on Tuesday night.
