LOS ANGELES — In a year when it really, really didn't have to, the Directors Guild of America (DGA) has done it again.
The DGA announced the nominees for its annual awards on Tuesday: Richard Linklater (Boyhood), Alejandro Inarritu (Birdman), Morten Tyldum (The Imitation Game), Wes Anderson (The Grand Budapest Hotel) and Clint Eastwood (American Sniper)
Statistically speaking, this was bound to happen. Recent studies by the Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at the University of Southern California showed that less than 2% of the top feature films are directed by women, while just over 6% were black. Read more...
