In the latest ranking of U.S. airlines for on-time arrivals, AirTran topped the list with a 90.4% rating.
Hawaiian Airlines usually tops the list — in part because its routes are rarely affected by weather — but this time came in second at 89.4%. The U.S. Department of Transportation rankings were based on performance in November 2014.
Unfortunately for travelers who appreciate timeliness, AirTran ended operations on Dec. 28Southwest purchased the airline in 2011.
AirTran's 90.4% beat its last rate by about 10 percentage points. That gain was partly made possible by the winding down of AirTran routes ahead of its last flight. Read more...
