Film and stage director, writer, producer and Academy Award winner Mike Nichols has died Wednesday evening at 83 years of age, ABC reports
Nichols' illustrious career includes the legendary movie The Graduate, for which he had won the Acadamy Award for Best Director in 1968.
He is also known for adapting Edward Albee's famous play, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, for the big screen. His other noteworthy films include the adaptation of Joseph Heller's novel Catch-22, Silkwood, Working Girl and Closer
