United States officials believe North Korea enlisted the help of hackers from outside the country to attack Sony Pictures Entertainment, according to a new report.
An anonymous official told Reuters that Pyongyang likely "contracted out" since North Korea "lacks the capability" to pull off the sophisticated cyberattack levied on Sony.
Yet numerous security experts continue to voice doubt about North Korea's role in the Sony cyberattack.
Cybersecurity research firm Norse points the finger at disgruntled former Sony employees instead. Cybersecurity consulting firm Taia Global said a linguistic analysis of the hackers' messages found that the attackers were likely Russian, not North Korean.
