Unmanned Antares rocket explodes at NASA launchpad in Virginia

Antares-explosion

A private, unmanned rocket exploded shortly after takeoff at NASA's Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia on Tuesday night.

The Antares rocket was owned by Orbital Sciences, which has a NASA contract to deliver supplies to the International Space Station

The rocket was carrying the Cygnus spacecraft, which was loaded with 5,000 pounds of cargo that included science experiments, food, clothing and other equipment for the astronauts on the ISS. It was due to be parked there for a month.

There has been a vehicle anomaly. We will update as soon as we are able.
